Ingredients for Dal 2 cup tuver daal, 2 green chilies 1/2 tbsp Turmeric powder 1 tbsp Garam masala,(Optional) 2 tbsp Red chili powder 1 tbsp Mustard seeds, 3-4 curry leaves cumin seeds(jeera)1 tsp aesfodita-a pinch 3-4 cloves 2 cinnamon, oil or butter -2tbsp. 1-tomato chopped fine 1 tbsp Tamarind or Lemon juice-1tsp 1/3 cup brown sugar or Jaggery, Salt To Taste, water Ingredients for dhokli: 2 cups wheat flour, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi) 1 1/2 teaspoons chilli powder 1 tablespoon coriander powder 4-5 tbsp.Oil Salt-2 tsp Water For garnishing chopped corrainder onion-1 chopped fine
Preparation: Dhoklis: -In a large bowl mix all the ingredients except water. -Mix well. Add oil and knead the flour to roti like consistency. -Keep it covered for 15 minutes. -Roll out big rotis and Place it in tawa, roast little bit on both sides -cut them into pieces Procedure for Dal: -Wash tuver dal and pressure cook it for three whistles. -Cool and remove the dal. -Heat oil or ghee in a pot, then put cumin seeds,cloves and cinnamon and then add mustard leaves. -When they crackle add curry leaves, green chilies and a pinch of asafetida. Pour tover dal. -Mix tamarind and brown sugar water or jaggarey, garam masala, turmeric powder,red chili powder and mix well. -Add tomatoes, -Add salt and 2 cups of water. Boil the dal. -When ready to serve add these dhokali pieces in boiling dal. -Boil for 10 minutes and remove. Serve the dal dhokli warm. -Take it out in a bowl & put little bit ghee -Garnish with chopped corrainder and chopped onions.
